Preparations are currently underway for another great First Friday along Roosevelt Row. Please plan to join us.
Thuong Nguyen and Karen Jilly are hanging excellent work at Modified Arts. Guest artist Mel Bergman is installing work at eye lounge along with a group exhibition of artists, including Jasper Johns, that have inspired eye lounge artists and a Project Room installation by Byron Lahey. The indomitable Kenneth Richardson (responsible for organizing the Artlink First Friday shuttles) is installing another incredible environment for his paintings of the character and characters of Phoenix at 515. Acclaimed local artist Jason Hill will have work available for First Friday only from 7PM to 11PM at 906 N. 5th Street. The not-to-miss exhibit "A Warlike People" curated by Lara Taubman will be on view at SHADE Projects at monOrchid. Other spaces rolling out the red carpet with some of the best work in Phoenix for February include the Paulina Miller Gallery, Red Dog Gallery, SHH!, Redeye and the Kitchenette.
While you're in the neighborhood, stop by for an open house from 7PM to 10PM at the Writers' Bloc located at 902 North Sixth Street (SE corner of Sixth Street and Garfield), the latest renovation project by Greg Esser and Cindy Dach. This historic house will provide studio space for emerging and established writers with wireless internet access, community space and exhibitions of text-related and book arts.
If you can't make First Friday, please join us for Saturday After or Third Friday! Roosevelt Row space Red Dog Gallery will feature an opening reception for "Artists and Animals" for the February Third Friday with photography by Stephanie Carrico of artists including Steve Yazzi, David Besent, Terri Rundle, Wayne Rainey, Mark McDowell, Amy Young and Earl Linderman.
