THE INDEPENDENT FEATURE PROJECT PHOENIX (IFP/PHX) ANNOUNCES THE SECOND SEASON OF SCREEN WARS: THE ULTIMATE SHORT FILM CHALLENGE

NOW ACCEPTING FILM SUBMISSIONS FOR POPULAR TELEVISION SHOW

(Phoenix, AZ) -- IFP/PHX has announced a call for submissions for the thirty-minute television program SCREEN WARS. Last year, this pioneering show produced 28 live-to-tape episodes that were broadcast weekly on AZ-TV, as well as 24 encore presentations. SCREEN WARS has often been described the American Idol for independent filmmakers.

IFP/PHX will be accepting three-minute films through November 2, 2006. This challenge is open for novice and established filmmakers. Films must be no longer than 3 minutes in length, appropriate for television and we are accepting films in all categories, including Comedy, Drama, Horror, Action, Sci-Fi, Musical, Romance, Music Video, Animated, Suspense, 1st Film, High School and/or College.

Filmmakers may submit multiple films that are brand new or previously created. The selection committee will announce the 45 films selected by November 21, 2006. Those 45 films will air on SCREEN WARS and stream on the website. SCREEN WARS airs in 5-week rounds, with a winner being chosen each round by the public. During the show, viewers are encouraged to go to the website and vote for their favorite film. The five winners become automatic official selections to the next Phoenix Film Festival and/or International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival.

IFP/PHX is dedicated to the advancement of independent filmmaking in Arizona. Its mission is to support independent filmmaking by providing networking, screening and educational opportunities for filmmakers. IFP/PHX is a non-profit organization and is run by the 501c3 Phoenix Film Foundation and is a chapter of the national Independent Feature Project.
